MYP Freshman Foundations

Freshman Foundations

MYP Freshman Foundations serves as an introduction to Central High School for all 9th-grade students similar to our AVID program.

In this semester-long class, students are provided with guidance and time to plan their learning path through high school and beyond by

  • exploring the IB MYP Approaches to Learning (ATL’s),
  • taking part in Cloud Coach, an e-mentoring program provided by Best Prep, and
  • exploring careers through our Career Seminar course.

Completing an MYP Community Project of their choosing, students learn the IB MYP inquiry process: Inquiry-Action-Reflection. As students become involved in the self-initiated and self-directed inquiry learning process, they will construct in-depth knowledge on their topic as well as develop an understanding of themselves as learners.
