Homecoming
Pepfest a hit !
The Homecoming Pepfest was held on Thurs., Sept. 29th during
6th period. Students were called down by oors and then poured
into the gym representing Central pride with red and black
and various school jerseys and class shirts. Central’s
Pep Band added to the energy in the air with the school song,
and plenty more. Although it may have been freshmen’s
rst pepfest, the upperclassmen quickly got the freshmen
acquainted to Central’s customs with the proudly sung
school song, and Central songs led by the cheerleaders. Senior
Lalu Abebe’s spunk and energy, along with Nehemia Jett’s
humor made the perfect pair as the MCs for Central’s
Homecoming Pepfest.
Homcoming royalty participated in a relay which required
them to turn around in circles ve times, do the three-legged
race across the gym; once they reached the other end, whoever
shot a basket rst would be able to run back and win. This
years’ Homcoming Pepfest winners were Sophmores, Anthony
Frelix and Mercedes Yarbrough.
The Central Violators, made up of students in all 4 grades,
took the oor grabbing everyones attention with their performance,
and received a standing ovation.
"The Central Violators are great dancers, and they’re
very enter-taining to watch,” said junior, Diana Thao.
All fall varsity sports teams were recognized, and each had
their own way of representing themselves on the oor. The
boys football team introduced by Coach Scott Howell ran in
with a sign painted South St. Paul, and tore it up.
“
This year’s Homecoming pepfest was denatly the best
one out of all 3 years,” said senior, Mao Vang. “The
energy was high, there was enough time for everyone to be
recognized, and Lalu and Nehemiah were great.”
On Friday, September 30th at 7pm, students gathered at Central
for the closing of Homecoming week with the celebration of
the sold out Homecoming Dance. The dance lasted from 7PM-11PM.
The dance featured DJ Mackbee and a VIP room. DJ Mackbee
played various songs, getting the dancers amped up. The VIP
room was a new addition to the Homecoming Dance this year.
The VIP room was put together by the Young Republicans to
show appreciation to the participants of their Match Making
Game. The VIP room consist of decorations, ice-cream, and
punch.
Initially walking into the dance, few people were dancing.
But by the time the dance was through, everyone was leaving
in clumps of excited friends. Apparently, the Homecoming
Dance for 2005 was a success for everyone. |
