Football: The Return of the Muskett
Roosevelt Williams Staff Writer
On September 23, Central’s varsity football team
4-1 in confrence 4-2 overall, won back their rivalry Muskett
against Highland Park. This rivalry has been going on for
over thirty years. In the last €ve years Central has won
the Muskett three times to Highland’s two.
“
This was a must see game.” It was a hard fought battle,
but we knew we would come through, because we are a family,” said
George Logan.
“
Preperation and team determination won the game,” said
Richard Hall.
Captains DeAngelo Svenkson, Donald Shutte, Danny Schutte,
Danny Montzka and Sean McColl are big presence in the locker
room. “Our strength,” said Coach Howell, “is
the Senior leadership.” But the Captains don’t
only talk the talk, they also walk the walk. This and superior
coaching has led to a fast 3-1 start in confrence play. “We
have an opportunity to have a pretty good year,” said
Coach Howell.
Their weakness, if any, will be their lack of depth. “I
felt like this was a great stepping stone toward our championship
run,” said Svenkson.
“
Regardless the outcome of your season, the rivalry game
is the biggest of the year,” said Nehemiah Jett.
So go and support our team, show school spirit!
“
I give thanks to the school for all their support,” said
Coach Howell.
On Fri., Oct. 7 the boys crushed Arlington 53-6.
