Donations
to Iraq

In the Spring of 2004, Principal Mary Mackbee recieved a
letter from the Army asking for donations from schools. These
donations would consist of pencils, papers, crayons, markers,
folders and much more. This was then handed to Mrs. Clawson,
a Biology teacher, to organize and she said it was, “A
great idea for two reasons. Being under Sadam Hussein, schools
weren’t functioning well. And with war, schools are
going to be physically destroyed.” So she began the
campaign within the school and community to raise school
supplies for this cause.
The campaign came came to a success with six boxes full of
supplies donated from students, staff, teachers, parents
and the community. These items were then sent to a certain
squadron in Iraq to build up the society. “It’s
important that the people in Iraq know that the United States
cares” Mrs. Clawson explained.
On behalf of the Army, they presented Central with two certi€cates
showing their appreciation. |
