Saida Hussein Staff Writer

On Oct. 8th, a heavy earthquake hit northern Pakistan. The earthquake killed around 80,000 people and the number is still rising. There is an estimate of 69,000 people severely injured, and 17,000 children killed when their schools collapsed on them. Survivors of the earthquake are currently suffering from diseases like hypothermia, pneumonia, and has killed 22 people, and counting. The earthquake also left 2 million Pakistanis homeless. Contributors from all over the world are donating to relief organizations to help the victims and Central High School. The Muslim Students Association (MSA) is selling sambusa (eggrolls), on Nov. 22 at conferences to help the Pakistani victims. “ I feel very sad about the earthquake and we are trying our best to make as much money as we can, so that we can help the families of the earthquake victims,” said Addis Fetto, president of MSA. The International and Global Economics small learning community is raising money as a relief effort for the Pakistan earthquake. They’re collecting money in advisories, and dona-tions are welcome in room 462. Organizations are encouraged to participate. “ I would like every individual to think in this time of great need ‘what did you do to help your fellow human beings’ and ‘what are you going to do?” said Mr. Greener, head of the relief effort. Although not widely reported as Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Pakistan is just as urgent. The relief effort will continue on for the next few weeks. If students have any questions about the effort, contact Mr. Greener
