Cross Country

Catherine Beddow Staff Writer

The Central Cross Country teams ground to a slow halt this year as they faltered in the conference meets. In the confer-ence dual meets, the boys’ teams lost 3 out of 5 meets, with their only two wins coming against Johnson and Arlington, who had to lose by default because they had incomplete teams.
The girls’ team won 4 out of 5 of their meets, with their only loss coming against Harding, with a score of 29-30, and the rest of the schools running with incomplete teams. On Oct. 19, the teams met for their all-conference meet. The Central boys’ team placed 4th out of the 4 competing teams. They had 4 runners in the top 15: Noah Delong (11), Soren Larson (12), Ivan Kutukov (11), and Derek Montgomery(11). This means they quali€ed for all-conference status. The girls’ team placed 2nd out of the 3 competing teams. They placed 3 girls in the top 15: Joanna Gilke-son (11), Rosie Graber (10), and Chelsea Willet (11).
The teams did not fare very well in sections. Only, junior Noah Delong. ran in the State meet on Sat., Nov. 5th, at St. Olaf in North€eld. Delong €n-ished in the top ten.
