Much Hope for Central’s Girls’ Basketball

Caitlin Conway Staff Writer
The Central girls basketball team has started their season with a lot to live
up to, they follow a team that last year €nished third in state competition.
They are currently 13-3 with an undefeated conference record of 4-0, and with
high hopes for the future. “We are improving a lot and really starting
to grow as a team,” said junior co-captain, Abby Gust.
The team has returned only one starter to the lineup, sophomore Kiara Buford,
but the most notable new face is that of St. Paul Johnson transfer Angel Robinson(11).
A star player at Johnson, Robinson has adjusted well to her new team and teammates. “It
was a hard adjustment but we’re coming together now and I think we’ll
be able to go far,” said junior co-captain Robinson. Central defeated Humboldt
on Fri., Jan. 20th by a land slide 87-29. On Sat., Jan. 21, the girls crushed
Christ’s Household of Faith (CHOF) with a score of 69-34.
The team has begun their conference play and have games on Tuesdays and Fridays.
In the words of co-captain Abby Gust, “ The more support we can get the
better.” So come support your team at their next home game is on Fri.,
Jan. 27th, tip off will be at 7 PM.
