The Central Spotlight on Central’s Talent

On Fri., Jan. 13th at 7:00 PM, Central students gathered
in the audi-torium for “The
Central Spotlight”. “The Central Spotlight” consisted of
Central students in bands, solo musical performances and solo dance performances
displaying
their impressive abilities.  The Student Council event ran by Pa Foua Hang (11)
had the purpose of raising money for the “Open Your Hearts” charity.
The event was hosted by Nehemiah Jett (12) and Danez Smith (11), who provided
comical entertainment between stunning performances. Group performances consisted
of a variety of genres, “The Devil Shrewds” with Emily Borka (12),
the jazz ensemble of Daniel Duke (11), Amber Woodhouse (11), Nathan Whitley
(11) and Aaron Henden-strom (who were later joined for an encore with Rachel
Graber
(12) and Peter Cozine (12) ) and “The Midwest Ma€a”, a rap group
featuring “Diamond” (11) .
Solo performances were a united success, Dorian Cotton (11) played the keyboard
to the melodies of popular songs, Eric Hardy (12) played the classical piano
and Chris Moua showed his skill with his hip-hop dancing.
Overall the evening was a great success, 75 people attended and about $350
was collected for charity. “I thought it went really well. We raised
a lot of money, and the audience enjoyed Smith and Jett’s comical comments.
Peter Cozine’s group was a good mix of everything,” said senior M-Team
member, Emily Wolff. “It was entertaining, a lot better than I thought
it would be. The Midwest Ma€a is my favorite group,” said junior Annie
Arnold.
