Swimming and Diving Lead the Conference

The Central boys’ swimming and diving team have current record of 2-0. Senior captains Jonathon Kretman and CJ Ener believes they can lead the team to victory in sections. “ I think we could go to sections and win,” said Kretman. Key players Enzo Deluca (7), Dan Merkel (10), and Tim Lockertson (12) will make the team even better. Cretin Derham- Hall is Central’s biggest competitor in sections, however, conference will be smooth sailing for the Minutemen as their previous competitors Highland/SPA lost many talented swim-mers. The Simley Tournament was a con€dence builder for the guys as Central placed third. “ Every one swam really well” Ener said “all the swimmer swam their best time.” Ener took €rst place in the indi-vidual medley race, and the breaststroke. Ryan Berry placed third in the 100 and 200 freestyle race. Kretman also met his personal record in the backstroke with 1 minute. On Jan. 20, CJ Ener broke the record for the 100 breaststroke time at 1:01:52, Central beat Harding 96-61. Central alumni Devin Connelly, and stroke coach has helped the new swimmers improve on their weaknesses. So the team is focused and ready to swim their way to victory.
The defending conference champs’ next meet is on Thur., Jan. 28 against Johnson.
