The beginning of the alpine ski season has been victorious.
In the €rst two races, the team has €nished in the top ten.
The ski team has 28 skiers, with a core team of 12 skiers.
The captain is sophomore Dan Delanis, and key players are
junior Andrew Adams, senior Mitchel Ryan, freshmen Cara Hardy,
and captain Delanis. On Jan. 20, Andre Adams (11), and Dan
Dalanis (10) scored in the top 20 at the Welsh Invitational
in Welsch Village. Their sections race will be in February.
Last year, the ski team €nished 8th out of 30 teams. The
team expects to €nish the season in the middle of the pack.
Since alpine skiing is an individual sport, there is not
one school which is Central’s biggest competition,
but Stillwater High School’s team consists of 90
skiers.
Mr. Lanier said, “It takes a lot of dedication to
be proactive outside and ski and race, and to get up early
for
the races. I think that not only alpine skiing, but Nordic
skiing, are both sports that are too often ignored.
