This course is an intensive literature course that introduces freshmento the thematic focus of Quest courses. The class is intended todevelop the skills necessary for growth in the Quest department thatincludes skills in effective oral and written communication skills,analysis of fiction, drama, and poetry related to two themes: theindividual's identity in the fall and the individual's place in societyin the spring. This course is a humanities based course rooted in theSocratic method. Students complete ongoing, self-directed tasks inclass and outside of class-projects and assignments that incorporate avariety of writing and speaking skills. Students develop and practiceinterpersonal communication strategies.
